The property was acquired over five decades ago by Bhai Satinder Pal Singh and his wife Rajinder Kaur, a scion of the illustrious Jhumba family of the “Chiefs of Punjab”. Today, the residence is carefully preserved and maintained by his daughter's family, ensuring it retains its remarkable history, architectural authenticity, and timeless charm.

Springfield's crowning outdoor space, the sundeck is a generous stone-paved terrace that wraps along the full front face of the house, sheltered on one side by the glazed hallway and open on the other to an uninterrupted panorama of the Himalayan foothills. Trees rise at the terrace edges, their canopies providing natural shade and a sense of being suspended in the forest. By day, outdoor tables and chairs are arranged perfect for a leisurely breakfast, afternoon tea, or simply doing nothing while the valley shifts through its endless moods of light and cloud. As dusk falls and the Kasauli hillside dissolves into a silhouette, the terrace transforms entirely. A portable firepit is set at the centre and chairs drawn around it for a leisurely and enjoyable evening which has ritually become Springfield's most beloved hour. The sunrise and sunset from here, create a slow burn of amber over receding ridge after ridge, are simply not to be missed.
Fruit trees are scattered across the Springfield grounds and guests can wander through the property grounds and pick fruit freely, a simple pleasure that feels deeply tied to the rhythm of the hills.
