It was acquired in the 1930s by Hon'ble Colonel Sir Buta Singh and Lady Buta Singh of the illustrious “Chiefs of Punjab” family from Naushera Nangli, District Amritsar. Colonel Sir Buta Singh, a distinguished Member of the Council of States and the Defence Council of India, made Rose Cottage the family's summer residence during the era when Shimla was the Summer Capital of India.
Nearly a century later, Rose Cottage remains beautifully preserved under the family's care. Its original wooden floors, handcrafted timber ceilings, antique furnishings, and heirloom décor create a warm, elegant ambience that offers guests an immersive glimpse into Shimla's colonial past, whilst offering modern amenities & contemporary comforts.
